The late Tor Tiv the 4th Alfred Akawe Torkula the paramount Chief of the Tiv people has a name in his honor among the prominent children of the Tiv nation world wide. The death of Tor Tiv the 4th came as a shock to many who for long time never knew him to be sick or ever complained of any illness. Late Akawe Torkula died at the age of 71 leaving behind many children. In his honor the Gov of Benue State Samuel Ortom during his speech in Gboko on the day of his burial renamed the college of advance professional studies in his name. As an icon Tor Tiv the 4th stood for the culture of Tiv both at home and in the diaspora, he will be remembered as the longest serving paramount Chief and a peace loving man.
