ONGOING SPEAKERS CONFERENCE IN ABUJA TODAY~VERY EDUCATIVE- DAJOH.

The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh has described the experience at the speaker's conference as "Very Educative".

The Honorable Speaker said that the Interactions and knowledge gained at the conference have placed him in a better position to preside over the affairs of the 10th State Assembly effectively.

The Speaker, Hon Aondona Dajoh thanked the organizers of the conference UKaid and Partnership to Engage, Reform, and Learn (PERL) for the opportunity provided for some of them that are first-timers Speakers saying it will go a long way in helping their legislative business.

The aims and Objectives of the Speakers Conference are as follows,

* Provide a platform for the participants to reflect on ongoing reforms led by the current leadership of the Conference and its partners as well as review progress made so far.

* Provide an Opportunity for the new Speakers to interact, share experiences, and agree on Mechanisms for sustaining the gains made by the last Assembly in their various states.

* Share some leadership tips, ideas, and experiences that will further equip participants for the task ahead. 

There were goodwill messages from the Development Director, UK High Commission, Dr. Chris Pycroft, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Sulieman, Speaker of Bauchi state house of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers as well as the Executive Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori.

The conference witnessed paper presentations from eminent Nigerians notably among them was, Professor Olabisi Olasheinde Willams who presented a paper on "Emotional Intelligence and Transformational Leadership."

The Former Speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara presented his paper on "Effective Leadership for Emerging Legislatures: Lessons, Challenges, Opportunities, and Recommendations" among others.

The technical sessions of the Conference focused majorly on the need for financial autonomy for the state Houses of Assembly and its independence.
