SEN. ABDULLAHI ADAMU RESIGNATION AS THE NATIONAL CHAIRMAN OF APC IS LONG OVERDUE!

17 July,2023

The long chimney that remained notice but still puff a lot more after the cold war between Tinibu and Adamu's camp after the 2023 Presidential Elections is the  N32B which is the ‘final straw’ that led to the ouster of Adamu as the National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC)

Abdullahi Adamu was asked to resign as the nlNational Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Sunday after a prolonged cold war with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that lasted after General Elections.

The APC National Chairman was advised to throw in his towel by the Governor of Imo State Mr. Hope Uzodinma who is the Chairperson Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).

Following the news of the hatch plan to oust the National Chairman, the APC National Secretary Sen. Omisere allegedly unavailable upon getting wind of the development.

One of the loyal Party sources said that that Adamu and Omisore were to face a vote of no confidence by NWC during their meeting slated to hold on Monday afternoon following which they would be forced to resign or sacked by the national executive committee (NEC), chaired by Tinubu, on Wednesday.

There has been an existing cold war between Tinubu's camp and Sen. Abdullahi Adamu's camp since the former governor of Nasarawa state was elected party chairman in March 2022.

According to a reliable source, Sen. Adamu’s failure to account for the sum of N32B raised by the party from the sales of forms during the 2023 General Elections.

The National Chairman could only account for N7B which is said to be left in the account of the Party at the moment.

Sen. Abdullahi Adamu and Sen. Omisore all claimed the account has been audited, but there are no evidence showing the books or records of the Party were ever audited. Every member of the NWC is not aware of any audit or anytime told auditors where appointment?

Sensing the signal and the unclear steam ahead on the already planned move to remove him Sen. Adamu in one of the recent meeting with all States Chairmen of All Progressive Congress across Nigeria in Abuja, where he reportedly approach them to give him their support but the cold response from the States Chairmen gave him cold foot.

Going by the APC constitution, the proceeds were supposed to be shared with the Zonal, State and ward levels of the party, and they were not in the know. So there was no way they were going to support or five him their support.

Before the N32B money meant for the Party activities where question by many people within the Party and this became a bone of contention and at this point, Sen  Abdullahi Adamu’s exit became imminent.

While Tinubu supported Tanko Al Makura, also a former governor of Nasarawa state, for the position of National Chairman, Party leaders loyal to former President Muhammadu Buhari rooted for Adamu against the wish of the incoming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This was carefully examined by other thoughts to be the first move made to stop Tinubu from winning the Party’s Presidential ticket.

Ahead of APC Presidential primary in June 2022, Tinubu complained bitterly that he was being betrayed despite the fact that a gentleman’s agreement was sealed in 2015 for him to succeed Buhari.

His outburst, popularly known as “emi l’okan” (“it’s my turn”), enraged Adamu who threatened that the party would “discipline” him.

In the week of the primary, Adamu informed NWC members that Ahmad Lawan, then Senate President, was Buhari’s preferred Presidential candidate.

The move was met with protests and condemnation from some quarters, but he stood his ground.

Lawan, a latecomer to the race, lost the primary, coming last with 38 votes against Tinubu’s 1271.

Tinubu would go on to lose the Presidential election in Nasarawa state, where Adamu was governor from 1999 to 2007.

“It was inevitable that Adamu would bite the dust,” says one of the NWC member.

When the 10th National Assembly was about to be inaugurated, it was the APC leadership that was supposed to work behind the scene for the leadership election. Adamu and Omisore were kept in the dark In fact, it was a known fact that Adamu was supporting Abdulaziz Yari.

As if that was not enough, when the committee positions were announced, Adamu openly dissociated himself from the list even though, he saw this coming

It was understood that when the issue of the N32B was presented to Tinubu, he gave the go ahead for the Party to remove him using a legal means.

Uzodinma approached Adamu on Sunday and asked him to do the needful by accepting to resign knowing fully well, the deities of the Party no longer behind him but it was also gathered that Uzodima could not reached Sen. Omisere, the National Secretary whose phone  was said to be switched off.
