His Excellency, Sen. George Akume has distinguished himself in the politics of Nigeria from 1999 till date and ran a Government that's inclusive of all areas of Benue State. During his tenure as Governor of Benue State from 1999 to 2007, Benue State witnessed Late Hon. Steven Akiga as Minister of Sports, Chief Sen. Engr. Barnabas Gemade as National Chairman and Chief Audu Ogbeh as National Chairman as well as Amb. Prof. Sen. Iyorwuese Hagher as Ambassador to Mexico and Ambassador to Canada as well as other numerous appointments of boards to other areas of Benue State that were not from Zone B axis.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) has paid his dues as Senator from 2007 till 2019 wherein he served as Minority Leader under Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and has built people from all parts of Benue State.
His Excellency has no record of fighting nor destroying Tiv sons and daughters but rather a great record of lifting them up and placing them in places of impacts which is evident for all to see.
We hereby caution ZAPA to desist forthwith from blackmailing our Leader and Mentor, failure within which we will be left with no option to seek legal redress against the faceless group.
