BENUE STATE GOVERNOR REV. FR. ALIA INAUGURATES STATE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

The Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has inaugurated the Benue State Executive Council with a charge on them to champion progress, and uplift the lives of the people they serve.

About seventeen (17) commissioners and 23 Special Advisors have been inaugurated Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at the New Banquet Hall of Government House, Makurdi.

Speaking during the inauguration, Governor Alia said it was the duty of the commissioners and Special Advisors to ensure that the interests of the people are at the heart of every decision they make.

He said their appointments as commissioners and Advisors was a testament to their exceptional skills, proven capabilities, and unwavering commitment to the service of Benue State. 

Governor Alia urged the new commissioners and Advisors to remember that the people of Benue place great hope in their abilities, and the decisions they make today will shape the future of the state, and the impact of their efforts will be felt for generations to come. 

He congratulated them and advised them to channel their energy and dedication towards effecting positive change.

Rev. Fredrick Ikyaan and Hon. Dr. Denis Akura who responded for the Commissioners and Special Advisors respectively thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve the people of Benue State in their respective capacities.

They promised to be loyal and show unwavering commitment to the duties assigned to them for the growth and development of the state.

The new commissioners and their portfolios include:

 1. Hon. (Mrs) Joy Luga (Gboko) Commissioner for Cooperatives, Urban & Rural Development

2. Hon. Dr. Yanmar M. Ortese (Guma) Commissioner for Health and Human Services 

3. Barr. Oga Matthew Omale (Apa) Commissioner for Power & Transport

4. Rev. Dr. Frederick Ikyaan (Gwer West) Commissioner for Education & Knowledge Management

5. Hon. Ugwu Ameh Odoh (Ogbadibo) Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment & Climate Change

6. Hon. Kwaghba Amande (Katsina-ala ) Commissioner for ICT & Digital Economy

7. Hon.Aboh Matthew Mnough (Ukum) Commissioner for Information, Culture & Tourism

8. Hon. Tiza Orya Imojime (Buruku) Commissioner for Works & Housing

9. Hon. Kunde Aondowase (Konshisha) Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs & Disaster Management

10. Prof. Ogbaji Moses Ikape (Oju) Commissioner for Agriculture

11. Barr. Martins T. Shaager (Ushongo) Commissioner for Lands, Survey & Solid Minerals

12. Hon. Michael Oglegba (Otukpo) Commissioner for Finance, Budget & Economic Planning

13. Hon. (Mrs.) Anna Itodo (Okpokwu) Commissioner for Women Affairs & Social Welfare

14. Barr. Fidelis Mnyim (Makurdi) Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice & Public Order

15. Rt. Hon. Terkimbi Ikyange (Ushongo) Commissioner for Youths, Sports & Creativity

16. Rt. Hon. Nick Eworo (Obi) Commissioner for Science, Technology & Innovation

17. Hon. Orpin Manasseh Alumo (Tarka) Commissioner for Commerce & Industries.

The Governor, however, slated between September 04 & 05, 2023 to hold a meeting with the newly sworn in Special Advisors and assigned portfolios to them.

Other prominent personalities at the event include the Deputy Governor, Hon. Barr. Sam Ode, the Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh and other members of the house, Member representing Katsina-ala, Ukum and Logo at the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Prince Solomon Wombo, the Head of Service, Moses Agbogbo Ode, Principal Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Chenge and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Rt. Hon. Paul Biam, amongst others.
