DEPUTY GOV PLEDGES GOVT SUPPORT TO ENHANCE FRSC OPERATIONS

In a bid to boost the operations of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in the state, Benue Deputy Governor His Excellency, Barr Dr Sam Ode, mni, has pledged government's readiness to provide FRSC with conducive working environment to carry out their duties effectively in the state. 

The Deputy Governor who stated this Wednesday when he received on a familiarization visit to his office the newly posted Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Benue State Command, Corp Commander Steve Ayodele, commended the zeal and enthusiasm FRSC personnel exhibit in their operations which resulted to a decline in the number of road accidents in the state.

He particularly applauded them for the three operational units recently added to the command stressing that the ever busy roads in the affected axis will be well monitored especially as we approach the end of the year. 

"The more units we have across the state, the better it is in the consciousness of most road users that when they see road safety men, they have the assurance that the activities of drivers will be moderated".

Barr Sam Ode reechoed his support for a unit of the command to be positioned in Government House, with approval of the Governor, to provide for among other things, training of drivers in Government House and associated government offices in the state. 

On his part the new Sector Commander, Benue State Command, Corps Commander Steve Ayodele said he was in Government House to brief His Excellency on the activities of the Corps in the state.

"We carry out road safety audit, process drivers license and number plates which we do in collaboration with BIRS; clearing of wreakages on the road to prevent accidents. We carry out sensitization programmes on television and radio stations
within the state", he stated.

Commander Ayodele also said the command has equally added three operational units in the state to help increase their visibility on the highway.
