GOVERNOR ALIA INAUGURATES VISITATION PANEL TO BSU, CHARGES THEM TO BE THOROUGH

Benue State Executive Governor, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia has inaugurated a 7 - Man Visitation Panel to the Benue State University (BSU) with the task to audit the activities of the University management between 2016 to date.

While inaugurating the panel on Thursday at the old Banquet Hall, Government House Makurdi, the Governor who was represented by his Deputy, His Excellency, Barr. Dr. Sam Ode, mni, charged members to be thorough, dedicated and exibit unweaving commitment to justice in the discharge of their duties.

 "It is our collective responsibility to ensure that Benue State University which I refer to as the pride of our state upholds the highest standard of integrity, transparency and excellence", the Governor stressed.

The Visitor to the University who described members of the panel as experts in their various fields, appealed to them to approach the task given to them with utmost diligence and impartiality, adding that they have been given the power to investigate, to delve into the details, and to make recommendations that would shape the future of the University. 

To the management of BSU the Governor said, "I urge you to extend your full cooperation and support to the panel. Be transparent, provide accurate information and engage in constructive dialogue", noting that the investigation was an opportunity for growth and improvement.

Responding on behalf of members of the Panel, the chairman, Prof. Gabriel Moti appreciated the Governor for finding them worthy for the task and promised to be thorough, fair and transparent as they carry out the assignment.

Prof. Moti equally called for cooperation from the various stakeholders and organs of the University.

The terms of reference for the panel include, to review the financial management of BSU during the period under review; investigate the application of funds allocated for specific projects; appriase the internally generated revenue; scrutinize students enrollment; assess the condition of physical infrastructure and instructional facilities; assess staffing and staff development programs as well as evaluate relationships between management and stakeholders.

The Visitation Panel has Prof. Gabriel Moti as Chairman, Prof. Kwaghkondo Agber, Mr. Igyegye Peter, Prof. Christy Ekoja, Mr. Samuel Yuwa, Prof. Okpeh Okpeh as members while Barr Simon Orkuma is to serve as member/secretary.
