The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Father Hyacinth Iormem Alia on the 9th of August, 2023 inaugurated a forty one (41) member committee who where saddled with the responsibilities of planning for the special occasion of the Home Coming of the former Governor of the State, North Central Political Leader, three term Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and immediate past Minister of Inter-Governmental Affairs Sen. Dr. Sir. George Akume as well as the Interdenominational Service in his honour as the Secretary to the Government of The Federation (SGF)
As a mark of honour, the governor of Benue State Rev. Fr Alia has dim it fit to welcome Akume who is tbe Secretary to the Government of the Federation to the state. The intention by Alia to do so is timely and a welcome development. It is also an indication that what people insinuates about the duo in the public space may not be trrue but lies intended to bring a bad blood between the two notable sons. We the followers have refused to be tagged nor dragged into what will not benefits us and the entire State, we have refused also what will fuel the crisis that will tanish the cordial relationship between Rev. Father Alia and the Leader of APC North Central Sen. Dr. Sir. George Akume.
The powerful Committee set up by Benue State Governor has well known, experience and notable political juggernauts, technocrats and business moguls amongst others is expected to drive home the best options and reel out plans that will usher Akume in what looks like his first home coming since his appointment as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and this will further open doors for his first round table back home with his political associates, friends and great sons and daughters of the State.
It is believed that this home coming of the SGF will send a clear message of goodwill and a healthy relationship between the Benue Progressive Great Minds.
As the good people of Benue state, we are expecting more and better things from this Union. We also hope that it is the best moments for Benue State having a prestigious son of the state to occupy such an exulted position of SGF and a humble Governor who is ready and prepared to give his best to the Benue people and to drive development close to the people.
Sequel to this, Rev. Father Hyacinth Iormem Alia has set the ball rolling with the payments of Civil Servants' Salaries and pensions as well as launching of other projects expected to be commission within his first 100 Days in Office The Governor has also shown his preparedness to deliver on his promises during campaigns and after his Oath of Office as Governor.
This big occasion of the home coming of Akume will mark another historic moments in the State as the first appointed Benue indigen to have occupy such a sensitive position as the Secretary to Government of the Federation and he is expected to be receive by well meaning sons and daughters within and outside the State in a most celebrated way.
The occasion of the home coming of Dr Akume may not take long again to happen. It is expected that this occasion will usher another opportunity which will reassure the hope of the good people of Benue and stronger signs that this great sons of the State have enjoyed each others partnership which is a clear indication to benefit and win more development for the State.
May Benue State remain United and stronger in order to attract more development both within and at the Federal level. This is the believed of a common man on the street and sign of a renewed and rekindled hope of all the Benue citizens now and tomorrow.
