COE/KATSINA-ALA TERMINATES ALL ITS AFFILIATED INSTITUTIONS

College of Education, Katsina-Ala in Benue state has terminated all Colleges of Education affiliated with the college with immediate effect.

The Ag. Provost of the College, Dr. Maurice E. Tyôkever made the disclosure today 7th September, 2023 while interacting with newsmen after a closed door joint meeting with his management staff and the heads of the affiliated institutions with the college.

"The management of this college has critically looked at the issue and invited all the concerned stakeholders and we have taken a decision that all the affiliated institutions with College of Education, Katsina-Ala be terminated with effect from today in line with the termination clause that is embedded in the Memorandum of Understanding", Dr Tyôkever disclosed. 

He however, added that the college has created a room for those colleges who could not go quickly and have their institutions accreditated with the NCCE can join the mother institution as an alternative:

"We are creating a window so that they can transfer those students to us. They will come and we shall subject them to our teaching and learning conditions as applicable to our students and we will graduate them accordingly".

In separate interactions with the heads of the affiliated schools with College of Education, Katsina-Ala, the Provost, Tyav Gar College of Education, Mkar in Benue state, Rev. J.T. Iwev; Deputy Provost, College of Education, Abejukolo in Kogi state, Mr. Ichado Joseph and the Provost, Mela College of Education, Changi Changi in Taraba state, Mr Injor Saater among others all expressed displeasure for the decision and appealed to the management of College of Education, Katsina-Ala to revisit the decision or give them time to put their houses together to avoid impending reactions from students which might lead to student's demonstrations and so on.

It could be recalled that one of the major factors that led to the drastic decline of students' population of College of EducationKatsina-Ala is its multiple affiliation status, with over 15 affiliated institutions.
