The Honorable commissioner of Health and Human Services, Hon. Dr. Ortese Yanmar today payed an unscheduled visit to the Mohammadu Buhari Mother and Child Hospital, Makurdi to inspect the State of the Hospital and Chart way forward on how to reposition the Hospital to serve the good people of Benue State in line with H.E Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth I. Alia Health Agenda.
His decisions to visit the hospital shows his willingness and readiness to minimize child birth mortality since the facility is strategic for improving the health of a mother and a child especially during child's birth and as such the collaboration between the health facility and the state own health facilities is vital in bringing down the maternal and child mortality rate in the state.
The Honorable Commissioner who is just 3 days in office has hit the ground running to making sure Benue State Health Sector becomes a center of attraction for people within and outside the state.
The Honourable commissioner who is already described as a workaholic was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr Beatrice Tsavmbu and the Ag. CMD of the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Dr Michael Maanongun, to ascertain and monitor the level of staff activeness and participation on the job.
Dr. Ortese haven been conducted round the entire facility by staff of the the Hospital, expressed satisfaction over the level of work been carried out by staff of the hospital and called on the Ag. CMD BSUTH to deploy more staff from teaching hospital to ensure effective health care delivery to the people in the state.
Earlier, Dr. Maanongun who was with the commissioner pledged his commitment to ensuring that adequate attention is giving to patients and other related services at the facility.
