Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has said it is his desire for the state to be ranked among the best states in the country.
The governor stated this on Saturday, while marking a Symposium put together by the Benue State government, in commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day Celebration.
While welcoming the various scholars and the participants at the event held in the New Banquet Hall at the Benue State Government House, Makurd, Governor Alia thanked all the participants and the resource persons for coming to share ideas on how and what can be done to move the state and country forward.
According to the governor, although the state and country are facing challenging times, it is within the purview of both the government and the citizenry to contribute to the upliftment of the state and the Nation.
He charged all Benue people to see how they can contribute their quota to make State and Nigeria great.
There were three knowledge-enriching paper presentations on the topics:
"PRE-INDEPENDENCE STRUGGLES, CONTEMPORARY NIGERIAN REALITIES AND THE BENUE EXPERIENCE" by Professor Okpeh O. Okpeh, the Director, Centre for Leadership Studies, Federal University of Lafia.
