I'M COMMITTED TO THE WELFARE OF CIVIL SERVANTS - GOV. ALIA

Monday, October 16, 2023

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has re-emphasized his commitment to the welfare of State's civil servants with a promise to sustain payment of salaries on 25th of every other month.

Governor Alia made this known Monday, October 16, 2023 while addressing some civil servants at the Benue State Secretariat, Makurdi.

The Governor was at the state Secretariat to assess the level of damage caused by fire at the office of Paul Adah who is the internal auditor at the Ministry of Education.

Received by the Commissioner of Education and Knowledge Management, Rev. Fredrick Ikyaan, Governor Alia assessed the office after which he thanked God that Government files were not burnt.

While addressing staff of the ministry and other civil servants at the end of the visit, Governor Alia said his government will remain committed to the welfare of civil servants and payment of salaries shall continue to begin on 25th of every other month.

He, however, warned against laxity and lack of commitment to duty, stressing that civil servants should also play their own part as the government is playing her part.

The Governor also said a 33KV transformer has already been installed to address the challenge of power supply at the Secretariat which lasted for the past eight years.

He mandated sone ministries, including Youths, Sports and Creativity, Education, and Women Affairs to go automated, saying at the age of Hi-Tech, Benue must be technically driven in all areas.

Governor Alia also visited Commissioners' Quarters, Ministry of Works and Housing, and Ministry of Justice all in Makurdi.
