The Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU) Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi Branch, on Friday, 3rd January 2025 passed a vote of confidence on Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia for his doggedness to reposition the state on the path of development.
The JOHESU alliance is made up of three main Union body: the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), the Senior Staff Association of Universities, Teaching Hospitals, Research Institutes and Associated Institutions (SSAUTHRIAI), and the National Union of Allied Health Professionals (NAUHP).
The Chairman of JOHESU of the chapter, Comrade Benjamin Chiangi Ioryem, appreciated His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia for his unique administrative prows which has brought landmark transformation in Benue state.
Comrade Chiangi also identified with the Chief Medical Director of BSUTH Dr. Stephen Terungwa Hwande for facilitating massive development recorded in the institution which he attributed to the cordial relationship between the CMD and the Governor who are both committed to providing excellent, relevant and affordable healthcare services to the people of Benue State.
He listed some of the notable achievements recorded by the CMD such as the establishment of Institute of Health & Technology, Tropical Medicine and Infectious Diseases as well as schools of Post Basic Nursing Programmes in Various specialties.
Others are the construction of VIP clinic, construction of Pharmacology complex, upgrade of medical equipment, renovation of amenity ward, ongoing construction of 230 cubic meters water plant amongst others.
On welfare of staff, the Chairman lauded the employment of new staff across various cadre, training and retraining of staff, implementation of new Consolidated Health Salary Scheme (CONHESS) clearance of all outstanding promotion arrears, implementation of the new hazard allowance as approved by Federal Government and payment of 21 months Arrears of hazard allowance.
Comrade Chiangi called on staff of the hospital to support the vision of the CMD in transforming BSUTH to a one stop hospital while assuring the Governor of Benue State of their dedication to work towards providing optimal health services to the people.
