ALIA RESTATES DETERMINATION TO MAKE POSITIVE IMPACT ON BENUE CITIZENS

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has restated his administration's resolve to
make a positive impact on the lives of Benue citizens and create a society that they can all be proud of. 

The Governor stated this Wednesday, July 26, 2023 when he received the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator of United Nations Systems in Nigeria , Mathias Schmale and members of his team at the Old Banquet Hall, Government House, Makurdi.

Governor Alia said, his administration has encountered, on assumption, an enormous humanitarian crises occasioned by various forms of conflicts and natural disasters which has left the state with a huge number of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) taking refuse in different camps across the state.

He expressed the strong resolve of his administration to stem the tide and seek assistance towards ensuring that the IDPs are resettled and reintegrated to their ancestral homes.

The Governor said his administration is working on a resettlement template which will soon be shared with UN office in the hope to receive adequate support.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation and Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator of United Nations Systems in Nigeria, Mathias Schmale said they were in the state to partner with the Government it achieve more for the people of the state.

He highlighted governance, peace building, and humanitarian assistance as some of the areas the UN is poised to support the Benue State Government to excel.
