The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has commissioned the Benue State (V.I.O.) Computerized Vehicle Inspection Centre, Makurdi branch.
Performing the ceremony Wednesday, August 09, 2023 at North Bank, Makurdi, the Governor said the introduction of Computerized Vehicle Inspection Services to Benue State is a prove of his administration's commitment to modernizing the transport system, instilling efficiency, and ensuring the safety of roads and citizens.
Governor Alia, who said the successful launch of Computerized Vehicle Inspection Services in Makurdi is just the beginning, called on all responsible citizens to embrace the service and encourage its widespread utilization.
He said, the centre in Makurdi is first amongst the four (4) centres to be built across the state, adding that the other centres are to be built at Otukpo, Gboko, and Katsina -Ala.
As a way of setting the pace for private and commercial vehicles to follow, the Governor directed that all Government vehicles from MDGs and Local Government Areas in the state be brought to the centre for proper computerized inspection.
He called on the Department of Road Traffic Services and Vehicle Inspection Officers to sit up and take-up the challenge of using modern technology for the advancement of Benue State.
Earlier in their separate remarks, Director, Administration and Supply, covering Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Nick Joko, Chief of V.I.O. in Benue State, Joseph Zayau, and District Head of North Bank, Pius Ahoame Jime, appreciated the Governor for his stride of development so far in the state.
They all emphasized the importance of Computerized Vehicle Inspection Services in the state, and encouraged the general public to prioritize inspection of their vehicles for their safety and the safety of their loved ones.
