BENUE GOVERNOR FLAGS OFF CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS IN MAKURDI

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has flagged off the construction of sixteen (16) number roads in Makurdi metropolis.

Performing the ceremony Monday, August 07, 2023 at Wurukum market, Makurdi, the Governor said the construction of 16 number roads measuring 15. 39 Km within Makurdi metropolis marks a significant milestone in his commitment to revolutionize the infrastructure of Benue State.

Governor Alia said the construction of the roads will not only improve transportation within the city, but also create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth.

He commended the Ministry of Works and Transport for its dedication and diligence in planning the projects, and urged them to maintain the highest level of professionalism in supervising the works.

The Governor urged the contractor (Tracta Nigeria Limited) to adhere to the specific requirements and complete the work within the stipulated time frame of eleven (11) months.

Earlier, the Project Engineer, Nabil Nassar, appreciated Governor Hyacinth Alia for trusting Tracta Nigeria Limited with the project, and promised to dedicate their time and complete the project with the given time frame.

The roads to be constructed include:

(A). NEW GRA PART OF MAKURDI
i. Odeh-Ageh - John Feese Street with spur to Kuma Abanyam and Othaniel Taangahar Street.
ii. Orkuma Akunda Street
iii. Lush Street
iv. Augustinian Community Road

(B). ADEKE/ACHUSA PART OF MAKURDI
i. Nigerian Navy Barracks road
ii. Keghem Malu Street

(C). WURUKUM PART OF MAKURDI
i. David Jebe Street
ii. Kornya City Guest House - Akpeme 
iii. Tyagher Gbaa Street
iv. Victoria Aende Street
V. KEKE NAPEP Street

(D). NORTH BANK PART OF MAKURDI
i. Ghandi Street
ii. Federal Low-Coast Housing Road

(E). HIGH LEVEL PART OF MAKURDI
i. Eight Avenue
ii. Iorkyaa Ako Street (Extension)

(F). WADATA PART OF MAKURDI
i. Ikeja - Sokoto Street.

Relatedly, Governor Hyacinth Alia also flagged of Renovation of the Benue State Secretariat Complex, the exterior of which is already shown at the entrance of the complex.
