It's deeply disappointing to read yet another vicious and misguided attack on Senator Dr. George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), by Mr Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia.
The piece titled "Romancing with Former Governor Samuel Ortom is the New Low" is a clear testament to the desperation to rewrite history and conceal the glaring inadequacies of the current administration.
Let's set the record straight. Governor Alia was the first to reconcile with his sworn enemies, including Senator Barnabas Gemade, who took him to the Supreme Court in an attempt to prevent the APC from fielding a candidate in Benue State. Additionally, H.E. Senator Gabriel Suswam worked tirelessly against Alia,s candidacy within the PDP, yet our governor has chosen to accept them wholeheartedly.
Meanwhile, Akume played a pivotal role in ensuring Alia,s emergence as governor. It's nothing short of ironic that Alia,s administration is now spearheading vicious attacks on the very person who contributed significantly to his success.
SEN.DR.GEORGE AKUME LEGACY SPEAKS FOR ITSELF
Senator Dr.GEORGE Akume has been an enduring beacon of hope and progress for the good of benue state, and north central in general. His remarkable achievements as a two-term governor laid the foundation for the modern Benue State, earning him a revered place in the hearts of his people.
As a Senator and now SGF, Akume,s national and international influence continues to uplift the state and its people, cementing his legacy as a visionary leader.
WHERE WAS KULA WHEN SEN.AKUME MADE ALIA GOVERNOR?
Governor Alia owes his emergence to Senator Akume's exceptional political sagacity and influence. Without Akume guidance and backing, Alia,s gubernatorial aspirations would have remained a mere pipe dream.
It's both ungrateful and hypocritical for Kula to now vilify the very man who built the bridge that Alia crossed to become governor.
The Tiv people and Nigerians at large are discerning enough to separate the wheat from the chaff, recognising Akume's integrity and unwavering commitment to public service.
GOVERNOR ALIA,S UNDERWHELMING PERFORMANCE
The crux of Kula's vitriol lies in the desperate attempt to conceal Governor Alia's underperformance. Since assuming office, his administration has been characterised by a lack of vision, poor leadership, and an inability to address the real issues affecting Benue State.
Rather than tackling these challenges head-on, Kula and his ilk resort to mudslinging, hoping to deflect attention from their failures. The people of Benue State are no fools; they see through these antics and demand accountability from the current administration.
THE SGF AS A PILLAR OF UNITY
Senator Dr.GEORGE Akume's role as SGF places him at the epicenter of national policymaking and governance. His efforts to promote unity and development across Nigeria are well-documented and widely recognised.
Instead of acknowledging and leveraging this national resource for the benefit of Benue State, governor Alia and his appointees choose to vilify him for cheap political points.
A call for decency and focus is in order.mr Tersoo Kula and the Alia administration must redirect their energy toward meaningful governance. Benue State deserves leaders who prioritise development over divisive rhetoric.
Senator George Akume's contributions to the Tiv nation and Nigeria should be celebrated, not dragged into the murky waters of political desperation. His legacy is secure, and no amount of political mudslinging can tarnish it.
